Study Tour

▲Dong Muan Airport(Thailand)-12th Study Tour
NVC organizes study tours from 2 to 4 times every year. The study tours we hold are totally different from ordinary sightseeing tours. Our destinations are the places where we can learn the present situation of the world, can think what we can do from Niigata as a global citizen and we can put our ideas into practice during our stay if we know there’s anything we can do beforehand. Those places are, for example, slums in Southeast Asia, refugee camps, activity fields of NGOs, and previous wars sites.

As it’s shown here, we’ve held 17 study tours from large scale to small scale so far. In total, around 200 people participated in the tours. At the beginning, NVC expended considerable amount of grant. However, recently, most of the study tours have been carried out by participant’s own expense. There was the only one time when we received financial assistance from other organizations.

We have been gathering participants widely and most of them have applied by themselves to join a tour. The only condition to take part in a study tour is to have an opportunity to talk about the experience they gain through the study tour. After the tour, most of the participants are not only willing to tell their experiences but also to cooperate with NVC’ s activity. Of course, there are some people who just attended a study tour and have not had another chance to take part in our activity, but we don’t ask them further to get involved in other activity. Therefore, we’d like you to join in a study tour of your own free will.
