What is WOCA?

　Our counterpart in Vietnam, WOCA（Women’s Charity Association）is a membership NGO which operates its activities in Ho Chi Minh City, and it was established in 1989. It is composed of various members, such as Budists, Christians etc. It is operated with the aids from overseas ＮＧＯs, including ＮＶＣ.

　The purpose of the establishment of WOCA was to give aids for the street children, the injured and the widows which were rapidly increasing just after the Vietnam War. As for now, they had collaboration with the Japan UNESCO Association to build an elementary school,　as well as took care of street children, helped the poor though job trainings and supported the eldeｒly poeple. It has led to the collaboration with ＮＶＣ since 1９９６, and built some elementary schools and supported orphan homes, Ｍai Ａm Ｂar Ｃhu and Mai Ａm Ｂinh Ｍinh.

WOCA’s Activities

• Supporting the eldeｒｌy who have no relatives
• Supporting the street children, including the handicapped
• Constructing elementary schools
• Micro Credit Program, or lending money for start up small businesses
• Scholarship project and job training project
